This project is about using an d being used. A toxic relation in which someone uses the other person until they’re nothing but flesh and bones. Still the abused doesn’t leave.
Maybe they like to be used, but still it hurts.
The plushies represent something that you care deeply about but ultimately use until you don’t need them anymore.
You throw them aside and forget about them. They start to decay.
Only when you see them decayed and falling apart you see what you’ve done. You try to make it right, but it’s too late.
A beautiful thing has gone, you still love it though.
The dissection of the pig plushie
I’ve had this plushie of a pig from the Ikea for a very long time. It has always been my favorite, mostly because pigs have been my favorite animal for some time now.
So what could be better to create art about using something you love then my favorite plushie?
Draping with the plushie
As a test I tried draping the dissected plushie around a small doll.
